Product Photography Standards for Catalogs
Improve trust with accurate, consistent images and clear image-use permissions.
Represent the actual item
Use current product or batch photography whenever visual differences matter. Avoid substituting photos from a different product model or packaging version, or using generic imagery that could mislead visitors.
Standardize presentation
Choose consistent aspect ratios, neutral backgrounds, useful cropping, and sufficient resolution. Preserve natural texture and color; excessive sharpening or AI alteration can misrepresent quality.
Track permission
Document who owns each image and whether you may publish, crop, or adapt it. Replace images promptly when packaging or hardware changes.
